  1. This year it was Sauerbraten and Bratkartoffeln. The beef was so tender I only needed a fork. And how can you go wrong with potatoes, bacon, and onion!

Comment by Jerry Silliman | August 2, 2014 | Reply

    • Mmmh, delicious, but we don’t have those. They are not authentic German food and are more a recipe that originates from the Midwest.

      • Thanks, sorry you don’t have them.

  9. Spatzle is not German at all. It’s totally Swiss. No authentic German restaurant would never serve Spatzle!

    Comment by Cathy | August 25, 2019 | Reply

    • Dear Cathy
In case you’re not sure whether we are an authentic restaurant, we’d like to invite you to try out our establishment and see for yourself. Spätzle have several origins within Central Europe, they’re neither only German nor only Swiss. But most would argue they are Swabian.

    • You are very misinformed, Spätzle is actually Schwaben like the owner said. Her restaurant is Authentic and she comes from Saarland(a state in Germany.) I have personally eaten there before and it is good even though I come from Bavaria our styles are different.

Comment by Jürgen Heinze | July 29, 2021 | Reply

    • Totally German. Especially southwestern.

  19. We very much loved the stroganoff and Wienerschnitzel. The accompanied sauces with each dish were great.
The German chocolate cherry cake was likewise delicious.
This was all done in takeaway. Served on our dishes and on a set table. Well done Gasthaus, you made my lovely wives birthday during this epidemic memorable.

  24. Was this restaurant on Dixie Highway in Louisville? Then moved south down dixie highway to a different community, like Brandenburg? We had a fierce discussion about the history of this restaurant, and can say if this is that restaurant, you will get a reservation of 4. All agreed the food was crazy good.
