Christkindl Market opens in Ferdinand, Indiana

The 16th annual Christkindl Market in Ferdinand, IN opens this evening, November 15 at 6:30pm. The Christmas Angel, or the Christkindl, will appear at the west side lawn of the majestically domed Monastery Immaculate Conception. Monks will chant, choirs will sing, and the Sisters of St. Benedict Bell Choir will perform.

This is a tradition carried over from Nürnberg, Germany, one of the oldest Christmas Markets in the world. Earliest records of the Nürnberger Christmas market date back to the mid 16th century.
